Dear Friends and Parishioners,
In the basement of the Family Center is a room that holds parish records, memorabilia, and old
bulletins. Lauren has done a wonderful job at organizing things and keeping the bulletin
binders up to date. In the binder for 2013, I found the bulletin for September 15. I had only been here for 2 and ½ months and was trying to keep up with the Mass schedule set by Fr. Mike St. Marie. I needed more time to get to Genesee and an extra 15 minutes to get back to Moscow. And so, at that
time, I changed the Masses to 8:00 a.m. Sunday in Moscow, then went to Genesee at 9:45 a.m.
and back to Moscow for the 11:30 a.m. Mass.
St. Mary’s (Genesee and Moscow) kept this schedule until March of 2020 when Covid–19 hit.
Following that, Mass times were changed three times in Genesee. Currently they gather for
Sunday morning Mass at 7:30 a.m. After that Mass, I have to get back to Moscow, get ready
for the 9:30 a.m. and have ½ hour between the 9:30 a.m. and the 11:00 a.m. Masses.
So, to put things back the way they were prior to Covid–19 we are going to change the Mass times
back to what we had: that is Sunday morning Mass at 8:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in Moscow.
This will give Genesee a decent Mass time at 9:45 a.m. when more families and individuals
can come.
Additionally, our current schedule in Moscow only allows for ½ hour for Religious Education,
but this change will make it easier for families to bring their children to St. Mary’s and will increase
religious education to an hour.
I know change can be hard
, but we really aren’t changing so much as going back to the way it
was! We will begin the new Mass schedule on the weekend of February 4th and 5th, 2023.
Thanks for everything and all you do to make St. Mary’s the wonderful community it is.
